Winnipeg, MB – January 7 2025 – Multi-award winning Canadian singer-songwriter, Jade Turner, has announced the release of her highly anticipated third studio album, “Breathe”, on February 7 2025.

A masterful storyteller and dynamic vocalist, trailblazing Canadian singer-songwriter, Jade Turner, invites listeners on a compelling journey of realization and growth on her remarkable third studio album, “Breathe”. Courageously sharing her most personal project to date, Turner’s diary-like songbook of lessons learned through lived experience offers a collection of thought-provoking, empowering, and poignant songs that continue to resonate long after being heard. Her exceptional, award-winning songwriting and powerful delivery take center stage as she bravely covers topics that include bullying, addiction, self-discovery, and anxiety. Displayed across a musical spectrum of genres - Americana, Roots, and Country, and a range of tempo, “Breathe” features collaborations with legendary artist Crystal Shawanda, and Sebastian Gaskin. On eleven thought-provoking tracks, Turner delivers an unforgettable album that resonates with authenticity, emotional depth, and unwavering strength.

Following the biggest year of her career to date, in 2024 alone Turner received national features on Breakfast Television, eTalk, was a semifinalist in SiriusXM’s Top of the Country competition, and reached over 500,000 streams of her catalogue. She also received her 27th Manitoba Country Music Award nomination and fourth career win, the Vince Fontaine Indigenous Song Award at the 2024 SOCAN Awards, and the Kevin Walters Memorial Songwriting Award from Manitoba Music. Turner performed at the 2024 iHeartRadio Canadian Country Music Awards pre-show presented by TD and was a featured artist at the National Music Centre and SiriusXM’s joint presentation of EQ Live. Along with receiving career-spanning national airplay from CBC Radio and support from NOW Country and NCI FM, Turner’s music frequently appears on the Indigenous Music Countdown. Additionally, she has received multiple award nominations from the Aboriginal People’s Choice Music Awards, Western Canadian Music Awards, and was awarded “Best Country Album” at the 2017 Indigenous Music Awards.

Firmly centered between Americana and Country, Jade Turner’s “Breathe” is a musical encyclopedia of originality, creativity, and the transformation of experience into lessons. Written throughout a time of significant change and transformation, namely becoming a mother, navigating divorce, and the pain of dealing with a loved one in the throes of addiction, Turner’s era of evolution served as the launchpad for her most personal album to date. Deeply rooted in the tradition of storytelling, Turner uses songwriting as her main form of expression, allowing her to create an anthology of songs both experienced and imagined. Turner shares, “The album is a therapy session for me. I don’t normally talk about my vulnerabilities, but this is my way of talking about it - by singing it. ”On “Breathe”, Turner diversifies her sound by delving more deeply than ever before into the Americana and Roots genres, moving away from the boundaries of Country music and allowing her to express herself in ways she previously abstained from. “I wrote this album from a place of ‘what do I need to hear”? I’ve grown into myself, and this album represents my best work - it’s real and authentic to who I am”.

On focus track “You’re Only Nice When I’m Leaving”, Turner surveys the relationships of her past in an anthemic Country ode to the outcomes of ignoring her intuition. With sparse instrumentation featuring just guitar and vocals, Turner’s shrewd songwriting strikes a lyrical chord as she relatably conveys an understanding of her longstanding patterns in relationships. By following her instincts, Turner delicately delivers a message of self-trust and growth, leaving listeners with an empowering sense of determination and clarity.

Five previously released singles demonstrate Turner’s neverending breadth of skillful songwriting and vocal force. Her 2023 release, “Deadweight”, penned with Canadian music legend Crystal Shawanda, is a powerful and moving song about bullying and finding the strength to move past it, marking an important, full circle moment for Turner as she notes that seeing Shawanda on TV was the first time she ever saw someone who looked like her creating and performing music, inspiring the young artist to launch her music career. “That Wind", inspired by Turner's lifelong experience with dogsledding, is a soul-stirring call to pursue one's dreams and was released upon Turner being named a finalist in SiriusXM Canada’s Top of the Country competition. Title track, “Breathe”, co-written with Rhianna Rae Saj and rising star Sebastian Gaskin who later lent his background vocals to the song, is a calming track about anxiety - grounding oneself and overcoming the relentless grip of the inner turmoil felt while experiencing the hard to shake emotion. Blending elements of R&B, Roots, and Americana, the chorus for “Breathe” builds in intensity to mirror the effects of anxiety. The deep vibrations of the track are designed to be a sensory tool, helping listeners ground themselves and return to their breath.

In a testament to her masterful songwriting and compelling storytelling, Jade Turner's "Breathe" reshapes life’s most challenging moments into songs that can ease the burden of change. Her ability to tackle complex themes like addiction, anxiety, and self-discovery with both vulnerability and empowerment highlights her fearless approach to songwriting. More than an album, "Breathe" serves as a reflection of Turner’s evolution as an artist and a woman, boldly embracing every facet of her journey. As she continues to cement her place as one of Canada's most prolific songwriters, Turner welcomes listeners to find solace, strength, and clarity in their own stories with "Breathe".
