One of Canada’s most entertaining independent rock bands, Blu Beach Band, is gearing up to release their third studio album, Mulligan, on Friday, June 12 2026.
Canadian Indie Rock Group Blu Beach Band Announce
Third Studio Album, Mulligan
Self-described as Canadian-Indie-Frat Rock, the completely self-produced album blends sharp Canadian wit, and nostalgic summer textures to embrace second chances, creative freedom, and the realities of growing older without losing their sense of fun.
“...It is nearly impossible to sit still when Blu Beach Band starts playing”
- North Sask Music Magazine
Regina, SK – June 2, 2026 – 3x SaskMusic nominees, Indie Rock group Blu Beach Band, have announced their third studio album, Mulligan, set for release on Friday, June 12 2026.
Hailing from Regina, Saskatchewan, Blu Beach Band returns with Mulligan, their third studio album and most ambitious, self-directed project to date. Blending gritty Canadian rock-and-roll, groove-heavy indie textures, breezy yacht rock influences, and live performance energy, the record captures the band at their most dynamic and creatively uninhibited. Borrowed from the golfing term for a “do-over,” the album's title, Mulligan, became symbolic of second chances, taking risks, and refusing to waste time waiting for permission. Across its eleven tracks, the group leans into themes of growing older, confronting expectations, and chasing experiences before life passes by, all while embracing imperfection, trusting instinct over polish, and creating a record entirely on their own terms.
Blu Beach Band has steadily built a reputation as one of Canada's most exciting independent rock acts through relentless touring, a DIY approach, and an unmistakable Canadian identity. Since releasing their debut LP in 2022 and sophomore album in 2023, the group has amassed over half a million streams, earned multiple Saskatchewan Music Award nominations including Album of the Year, Rock Artist of the Year, and Music Video of the Year, and performed at major festivals including NXNE, Gateway, Ness Creek, and Sask Jazz. Along the way, they’ve shared stages with legendary Canadian acts such as Trooper, Big Wreck, Down With Webster, and Bombargo, while building a devoted audience through clever homemade visuals, live-off-the-floor performances, and a commitment to authenticity over perfection. Grounded in the influence of iconic Canadian artists like Sloan, The Sheepdogs, April Wine, Chilliwack, and Trooper, the band continues to be recognized for their sound rooted in Canadian nostalgia while remaining unmistakably fresh.
With Mulligan, Blu Beach Band challenges themselves stylistically and for the first time, with self-production, moving between sweaty garage rock, breezy yacht rock textures, indie-pop melodies, funk grooves, and classic rock influences without losing the personality that ties the project together. Recorded entirely live off the floor with minimal overdubs, the album prioritizes chemistry, spontaneity, and feel over perfection. Dedicated to capturing the feeling of a Saskatchewan summer, the band uses fuzzy guitars, shouted hooks, hyper-Canadian humour, and emotionally honest songwriting hidden beneath tongue-in-cheek delivery to create a record that feels warm, loose, lived-in, and familiar. Whether tackling frustration, insecurity, partying, relationships, or the pressure of adulthood, the group balances humour with sincerity, often disguising deeper anxieties beneath playful hooks and rowdy energy.
The album’s lead single, “Queens,” serves as one of the project’s most energetic and immediate moments. Built around a catchy chant-like hook and inspired by power-pop and Brit-rock influences ranging from Joan Jett to OK Go, the playful and heartfelt track acknowledges the role the band’s partners play in keeping them grounded and pushing them forward. The colourful, cheeky, 80's workout-inspired music video offers a glimpse of the group's wit and humour, following the four members through light choreography and personifying their self-described, sweat-rock sound.
Elsewhere, “Cerveza” transforms a beer into the subject of an increasingly self-aware love song layered with sunny percussion and campfire-style charm, while “Rock Band” captures the beautifully chaotic reality of life as working musicians through gritty guitars, groove-heavy rhythms, and a throwback talk box twist inspired by classic ‘70s rock, poking fun at late nights, drink-ticket paycheques, and the dream of making a living in music. On “Dogwater,” the band channels Southern rock influences into a tongue-in-cheek anthem about inadequacy and self-doubt, complete with banjo, barking dogs, and fiery riffs. Together, the songs reflect a group unafraid to be goofy, vulnerable, loud, or imperfect, often all at once.
With Mulligan, Blu Beach Band delivers their boldest, funniest, and most fully realized album yet: a record rooted in creative freedom and the kind of self-awareness that comes from growing older without giving up the fun and nostalgia of youth. Rather than chasing trends or sanding away imperfections, the band leans fully into their personality, instinct, and chemistry, embracing a sound that honours their admiration for Canadian rock in both spirit and execution. From hyper-local humour and tongue-in-cheek storytelling to fuzzy classic rock guitars, backyard-party energy, and references that feel pulled straight from a big sky Prairie summer, Mulligan captures the charm of a band unafraid to laugh at themselves while still saying something relatable. Whether they’re romanticizing beer, joking about being broke musicians, or disguising anxieties about adulthood beneath shout-along hooks and rowdy grooves, Blu Beach Band consistently balances wit with sincerity in a way that feels refreshingly human. At once nostalgic and wildly alive, Mulligan feels like the soundtrack to a perfect Saskatchewan summer: fun, loud, heartfelt, hilarious, and impossible not to sing along to.
